June 2012 Newsletter
Posted on June 4th, 2012
Every month we will be putting a Monthly Newsletter onto our website to update our anglers and our guests.
June started off a wet month and ended a very wet month! Many anglers were put off with the thought of getting wet and so the numbers of anglers fishing during June was down!
Our three Micro pigs and our Ginger Kunekune pig are all settling in very well. Most days Mark and I take them for a walk around the fishery before we give them their tea but failing that I open their gate for a few hours in the evening and they roam freely around the fishery and what a lovely site that is! They too don’t like the wet weather and one part of their field has even become a mass of sticky mud!
Our two new goats Gerty and Mable are settling in very well despite the wet weather. They have a new lease of life here as they used to be tethered up most of the day. Now they run freely in a paddock and eat all day long!
Our two donkeys Pollyanna and Domino are due to arrive at the fishery in August or September. Reece and Pete are hard at work getting their new paddocks ready and keeping the rest of the fishery tidy with their strimmers. Thanks to them both!
To clarify the matter of pets on the fishery, no dogs are allowed on the fishery grounds, unless they are staying in one of our cottages. If an angler is staying on the fishery with his/her dog, then the dog is welcome to accompany him/her to the lake on a lead.
New summer promotion with free raffle! Pick up a leaflet at the fishery now and enter your best fish at every visit, even if it is not huge! I have decided to offer 3 special prizes this Season. One is for the largest Trout caught at the fishery during this May and June and the second is for the largest trout during July and August and the third is for the largest trout caught at this fishery during Sept and Oct! Each is a free weekend break for two people inc 2 x 4 fish permits! Wow! All linen, oil, electric and towels are included. Whether it is a large specimen Brown or Rainbow, the largest fish will ‘land’ the prize! All entry forms will be put into a barrel for a draw with extra prizes in November. So tight lines and good luck!
The fishery opens at first light and anglers that want to fish early are reminded to fill in a self-service permit at the office before starting fishing. Our Children’s Lake closes at 4.30pm through the Summer and our Fly Fishing Lakes close at Dusk through the Summer.
