Rare Breed Poultry Paddock

The last improvement to the estate is our Rare Breed Poultry Paddock that opens in June/July 2013.

This is a fully fenced paddock that is the home to our rare breeds chickens and our ginger Kunekune pig named ‘Geri Halliwell’ and our ‘gorgeous’ Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys, ’Pollyanna and Domino’! Also Gerty and Mable our two pet goats! (animals may vary).

Toddlers, children and adults will enjoy seeing the varieties of chickens, animals and feeding the trout. During the spring incubators will be on show with eggs inside and hopefully chicks will follow!

Hand washing facilities are provided with hot and cold water in two different locations on the fishery for guests to use after their visit and before any food or drink is consumed.

Our Vietnamese Pigs, Alice and Perky are our two pet pigs that roam freely around the grounds most of the time. They can be seen sunbathing in the summer and resting in their bedding in the winter.

A variety of ducks and Guinea fowls can also be found roaming around the estate.

The fishery also has an active collection of natural wildlife varying from Kingfishers, Otters, and Herons and very recently Ospreys have been sighted several times in the last few months. The photo below is an Osprey that was rescued on the fishery in April (2013) and released back into the wild! So don’t forget to pack your camera!

All children under 12 that have been fishing on our float fishing lake will also be invited to enter our drawing/painting competition in our art room on the fishery. The closing date for this competition will be the 30th September and there will be 3 prizes, of 3 night weekend breaks on the fishery for 4 people every season. No cash alternative will be offered and the breaks must be taken before 15th December 2013.

We have an excellent range of facilities and if you and your family would like to barbeque your catch while you are here, we have a beautiful oak gazebo and barbeque servery area that is all waiting for you! This facility is free to all visitors that have bought a fishing permit from our shop and been fishing that day.
