GARY CHAMPION TO CELEBRATE 20 YEARS AT TAVISTOCK

Gary Champion has just confirmed that he will be visiting the Fishery this year on Sunday 13th September, to join in my celebration of being at the Fishery for exactly 20 years.

Gary Champion holds the AAPGAI Masters qualification in all disciplines as well as being an FFF certified Master casting instructor. Based in Cornwall he has taught and demonstrated fly casting and fly dressing for over 10 years. His knowledge and expertise have been utilised by several tackle manufacturers in designing and field testing new products.

All friends and visitors are most welcome to come along to watch Gary's demonstration.

There will be a "Hog Roast" on the day of Gary Champion's fly fishing exhibition at Tavistock Trout Fishery, for everyone who is there.  Food will be served from 12 noon.

Hog Roast at Tavistock Trout Fishery

Sunday 13th September 2009

To celebrate my 20 years at the fishery also on Sunday the 27th there will also be several excellent prizes up for grabs and 'all' anglers purchasing a permit on either saturday 12th or Sunday 13th September, will be in with a chance of winning one!

As we grow all our large fish on site, I will be stocking a lot of Extra Large Rainbows and Browns, just before this day!

Anglers will be able to start fishing on this day at first light and fishing will end at dark!

The captor of the largest Rainbow of the Saturday or Sunday, will receive a £100 fishing voucher.

The angler who catches the largest largest Brown Trout of the Saturday or Sunday, will receive a 9 ft Shakespeare fly rod and a Lureflash Large Arbor fly reel.

All smaller Browns will receive a Tavistock Trout Fishery Bass Bag!

The smallest Brown Trout will win the captor a "Wychwood" hooded fleece.

There will also be prizes for the heaviest bag of 5 and 6 fish.  Prizes to be decided in the next few days.

All anglers not receiving a prize and catching a Trout above 3 lbs on these two days, will receive a free pair of speed scissors.   Smallest Rainbow of the day will receive a Lureflash landing net!

I shall be holding a "Raffle" to celebrate the occasion, and tickets will be on sale at the fishery very soon.

The draw will take place on Sunday the 27th June at 1.00pm.  Prizes will include a weekend cottage break at the fishery for a max of 6 people, assorted fishing tackle and fishing permits etc etc!

Tavistock Trout Fishery Cottages are available to book over our Gary Champion weekend.

NEW EXTENSION ON MY SHOP

To enable me to work more on the fishery now that I have a daughter, I am having an extension on my Shop and to the Lodge.

Among my other jobs that I can do easily from my office, I miss talking to my fishermen and making them tea/coffee.

Ice Creams are now on sale in the shop too.

We now have a range of Barbour waterproof hats for sale in our tackle shop, from £9 each.

My life is my Fishery and I want to spend more time with my anglers, rather than be confined to my house!

This project has started and will be completed by the end of June.

FRESH EGGS FROM FREE RANGE HENS

Our own Corn fed chickens that roam freely around the fishery are producing fine 'Free range eggs' that are for sale in our Fishery office.  Price £1.20 half dozen and £2.20 dozen.  Subject to availability.  Orders welcome.

COME AND SEE OUR TROUT STOCKED

10 lbs plus Brown Trout are being stocked regularly !

Smaller Brown Trout are too being stocked regularly!

All anglers are welcome to watch us putting some of our Brown Trout into the fishing lakes.

If you would like to watch please ring 07970 608 890 for a time.

Regulars and visitors quickly discover that we breed and grow-on our own Trout for the top-notch sport of our fly fishermen and ladies too.

Mark has been kept on his toes replenishing our stocks in our 5 lakes on a daily basis.

Here are some photos we took of the re-stocking process.

The big Trout are
carefully transported
from the on-site
rearing ponds
They are in the peak of condition
The fish are acclimatised by resting them
in a large bin of water at ambient
temperature
They are then gently released
into the lakes
Mark Carefully releases
prime Tavistock Rainbow
Trout into our lakes

Because of our regularly monitored stocking, anglers continue to catch top quality fish.
